Flow State Outdoor Education is based out of Naarm, the traditional name used for the area known as Melbourne, which extends over the traditional lands of the Kulin Nation.
The Kulin Nation is a collective of five Aboriginal nations: Wurundjeri, Boonwurrung, Wathaurrung, Daungwurrung and Dja DjaWrung.
Flow State Outdoor Education respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land which we live and work on.
Flow State Outdoor Education respectfully acknowledges other Traditional Owners throughout Victoria, especially the Bunwurrung, Gadubanud, Jardwadjali, Djabwurrung, Yorta Yorta people whose lands we adventure through on our programs.
We would like to pay our respects to their Elders, past, present, emerging and Aboriginal Elders of other communities throughout Australia we have not named.
Our Mission
Our mission is to combat mental illness and suicide in the LGBTQI+ community by introducing and facilitating adventure sport related events and camps which are inclusive, supportive, financially accessible and diverse.
WHO WE ARE
Flow State Outdoor Education
is a not-for-profit LGBTQI+ sporting organisation based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia.
What WE do
Numerous studies have demonstrated that social interaction is associated with increased psychological wellbeing. It is our objective to harness both the physical benefits of outdoor recreation and improved mental health caused by social interaction, team work and pushing beyond your perceived boundaries.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We feel that access to outdoor recreation is limited for our community due to the stigma associated with participating in sports and a lack of community whilst doing so.
Under the rainbow
Adventure Survey
Hey there,
This survey is here to assist us understanding how different rainbow communities may react to situations commonly experienced while camping in the outdoors.
This survey allows you to ascertain the environments to be encountered and the possibility of emergency care or evacuations.
Please comment on certain ideas or hesitations that come to mind, and don't be afraid to ask questions to enable us to ensure we not only have what is needed to make you feel safe, comfortable and supported but also so we can educate you on why we may need to make certain decisions in environments that could be a safety hazard.
